Activities in Valle Aurina – summer and winter

Four seasons & plenty to experience

Spring, summer, autumn and winter:
Round of the Untermairhof offers a variety of leisure activities in every season.

Lush green meadows, rugged mountains and snow-white glaciers – nature gives its all. A true paradise for hikers and mountaineers alike. Here you will find a wide selection of different tours: from leisurely to challenging, everything is on the table. In winter, the kilometres of pistes in the nearby ski areas offer fun in the snow for the whole family. And far away from the hustle and bustle, you can go snowshoeing through the secluded winter forest.

But that’s not all, of course!

Because there are all kinds of things to discover here at the Untermairhof and in the surrounding area.
Our insider tips …

The land of milk and honey

When the sun is rising over Untermairhof, our young people are often already as busy as bees, because there is much to do. A giant yard with a lounging area, a playground, a volleyball net, a trampoline, a children’s playroom with a library and a barbecue area, are just a few of the many places where you can spend your time having fun.

Fun in the sun

There’s probably no better place to do that than at the lake. A 10-minute walk takes you to the lake Mühlwalder See. A real paradise for fishing, lying in the sun and also perfect for lovers of good Italian pizza: Restaurant Meggima is right on the shore.

Wengsee is a real insider tip – hidden away in the middle of the forest, here you become part of the untouched nature. A hike there will take about two hours and it’s just under an hour by bike.

At the Lappach reservoir you will be rewarded with a magnificent panoramic view of the Zillertal Alps. A toll road leads up to the reservoir, which is located at 1,900 m above sea level.

Direct start

Numerous hikes and leisure activities start directly from the house – so even your car gets a break.

A two-hour hike leads from the farm up to the Wengsee. In the hut there you will be rewarded with the best South Tyrolean food – and of course with magnificent views

And for the action lovers among you: Together with the whole family, head from Mühlwald up to the Weizgruber Alp, the trail is also suitable for little explorers. Fun for the whole family, even in winter. Then the way back is not covered on foot, but rather with the sledge on the toboggan run. Fifteen minutes’ drive away is Winkl/Kematen, the starting point for the famous Rein waterfalls. You can enjoy the way back by floating through the forest on the Flyline.

Winter wonderland

Winter is just as spectacular as summer: The Tamarix Family Park, best reached on foot, is a goldmine for little snow lovers, and the renowned ski resorts Kronplatz, the world‘s largest ski network (22 km of runs), Speikboden (8 km) and Klausberg (15 km) make the hearts of skiers and snowboards beat faster. And for those wanting the thrill of sledding down the snow-covered slopes, go ahead — they‘re right behind the house!
